Lenovo entered the smartphone business in the year 2012 and since then it has been able to establish itself as one of the leading smartphone manufacturers in the world by releasing some very impressive smartphones aiming at different sections of the smartphone users. The latest smartphone to have come out of Lenovo’s kitty is the Lenovo Vibe S1. The Lenovo Vibe series can be specially accredited for the success of Lenovo smartphones.
The latest smartphone to join the Vibe Series boasts of a solid front camera setup, the Lenovo Vibe S1 has a dual front camera setup, which we will discuss later in the article. The Lenovo Vibe S1 has also find a place in my list of the best looking smartphones released in 2015.

Lenovo Vibe S1 Build and Design: The mid range smartphone have not been able to attain a really impressive design like their costlier counterparts have received but the Lenovo Vibe S1 changes that. First glance on this device and you will be tempted to take it in your hands. This smartphone has some seriously impressive looks. The Vibe S1 features a metal frame made from sturdy aluminum, which is rarity in the smartphones of this price range. With the aluminum build, it has diamond cut chambered edges.
The Lenovo Vibe S1 sports a curved Gorilla Glass back panel and slim bezels on the front and rounded corners. The smartphone looks way costlier than what one actually have to pay for it. Due to the curved back and compact design, the smartphone offers nice one hand usage. The right edge of the smartphone houses the volume and power rocker keys. The glass panel on the back of the smartphone can attract a lot of fingerprints and this is one reason that Lenovo has included a clear transparent back cover in the box.
Lenovo Vibe S1 Display: Lenovo has managed to do an impressive job with the display of the Lenovo Vibe S1, the display panel stretches at 5 inch and it is a full HD IPS LCD panel. The screen has a pixel density of 441ppi.
The screen offers great details and individual pixels are not visible at all. The LCD screen of the Vibe S1 may not be as good and vibrant as the AMOLED ones that we saw on the OnePlus X or the Samsung Smartphones but it still is among the best displays that we have seen in this range. The Lenovo Vibe S1 offers nice visibility outdoors, under the sun thanks to the high levels of brightness.
Lenovo has also included an useful pocket-dial prevention mode, which prevents the smartphone from getting unlocked when there is something in front of the proximity sensor.
One thing that could have been better is the capacitive touch keys below the screen of the Vibe S1 could have been back lit.
Lenovo Vibe S1 Performance: Looking at the price tag of Rs. 15,999 the Lenovo Vibe S1 has some impressive specifications under the hood. The smartphone is powered by an octa core MediaTek MT6752 processor, which is clocked at 1.7GHz, this is coupled with good 3GB of RAM space and 32GB of internal storage that can be further expanded upto 128GB.
The smartphone encountered no issues while playing some high performance games like the Asphalt Nitro and Shadowgun. It displayed some nice multi tasking skills too. So overall the Lenovo Vibe S1 is all capable to offer a good smartphoning experience. I did find the smartphone getting a bit warmer while playing Asphalt, NOTE that is said ‘warmer’ not ‘hot’ so that is probably not going to be a problem.
Lenovo Vibe S1 User Interface: The Lenovo Vibe S1 runs Lenovo’s own Vibe UI on top of the Android v5 Lollipop, which was updated to Android v5.1 Lollipop when i powered on the device. Though the interface offers a decent ride but the addition of some bloatware in the smartphone that cannot be uninstalled can turn off most of the users. The Vibe UI has got better than the version that we last saw of it. The most impressive aspect of the Vibe UI is that it allows app permissions, using which one can restricts app from using data that you don’t want them to have access to.
Lenovo Vibe S1 Camera: Coming to the highlight feature of the Lenovo Vibe S1 – the Camera, especially the dual camera setup on the front. The smartphone boasts of a dual camera setup on the front. One is the 8MP camera with an aperture of f2.2 and the second one is a 2MP sensor which captures the depth of field. One important thing to know is that the dual camera mode needs to activated in the camera app for usage. How is the dual camera going to enhance your selfies, if this is what you are wondering then read on. The dual camera setup makes editing photographs an easy and more featurerich task. The smartphone can can detect the background in a picture due to which, the built-in software can select an accurate cut out of the subject in the foreground. After which one can blur the background and give your pictures a DSLR-like effect, or you can also swap the background.
Though much of the spotlight in the Lenovo Vibe S1 has been taken by the front camera, the rear camera also offers a decent performance with its 13MP sensor.
Lenovo Vibe S1 Battery: One department of the Lenovo Vibe S1 that I wish were better is the battery. The smartphone comes 2500mAh battery that offers an okayish battery life. The smartphone lasted 8-10 hours with moderate usage, so it is probable that with the Lenovo Vibe S1 you might have days that your run out of battery before the end of the day.
Lenovo Vibe S1 Storage: The Lenovo Vibe S1 offers 32GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. The smartphone has a hybrid SIM tray in which either you can use the second SIM or the microSD card.
Lenovo Vibe S1 PROs and CONs:

Final Verdict: According to me the the Lenovo Vibe S1 is a decent buy at this price tag of Rs. 15,999. The smartphone offers brilliant looks and design, nice display, and an awesome front facing camera. The smartphone does disappoint in the battery department but it will last you by the time you reach back home from work.
