The Micromax Canvas 4 which was released in 2013 finally has a successor in the Micromax Canvas 5. The latest Micromax Canvas 5 will be available for purchase in stores both online and offline starting from Wednesday at a price tag of Rs. 11,999. The Micromax Canvas 5 at this price tag will be among the low-priced smartphones to offer 3GB of RAM.

The Micromax Canvas 5 comes with a big 5.2 inch Full HD screen with the resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The screen having a pixel density of 423 ppi is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The latest Canvas smartphone is powered by an Octa-Core Mediatek MT 6753 processor, which is clocked at 1.3GHz. This is coupled with 3GB of DDR3 RAM which seems packed to offer a lag-free user experience. It runs the Android v5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

The smartphone sports a 13 MP camera on the rear with Autofocus. On the front of the phone there is a 5 MP camera and it too has a flash for the times when you want to take a selfie in the dark. The cameras of the Micromax Canvas 5 also have a uniques feature called Picture-in-picture which enables the user to click pictures from both the front and the back cameras of the phone at the same time.
