Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Review: The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is the bigger version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, there is not much that you will have to decide between these two devices except the size and a little bumped up battery. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is that device which you will be proud to show off and it will always demand attention. You take it out in a gathering or a party, you can be sure of getting few eyeballs rolling.

Let’s See the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Review:

In-spite of this, its similarities with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, I feel that the curved screens look better on the curved screen, they stand out more and are more visually alluring.

Build and Design

The most stand out feature of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus that screams for attention is the ‘EDGE’, the curved edges. It is the first thing that catches your eyes in the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. It is way ahead of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the iPhone 6 Plus when it comes to looks and appeal. Simply put, there is no other Smartphone in the market that can beat the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge in the looks department.

Review-of-Samsung-Galaxy-S6-Edge-Plus

Samsung has followed the same build that it has now started using in its Galaxy Series, Gorilla Glass front, back, and metal on the sides. The back panel does attract fingerprints and at times look smudgy.

There are times when any video or any web page having pictures move into the edge, it looks somewhat weird.

Display

Samsung has lately figured out a way to build brilliant displays and with the Edge Series, they have put another feather in their cap.

The 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display, with QHD, 2,560 x 1440 resolution and curved edges makes the screen of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus the best in the market and it looks brilliant. The Edge side screens now have more functionality. You can now set five of your favorite contacts and five of your favorite apps on the side screen for easy access.

I would anyways like more functionality being put into the curved edges.

User Interface

Like all other Samsung Smartphones this year, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus also features the TouchWiz running over the Android Lollipop. But Samsung trimming down on the bloatware does not make it a bad experience anymore, the scope of improvement is still very big, but this is the best version of TouchWiz.

The notable improved features of the new user interface include the Quick Settings shortcut, S-Finder,
Multi Window. The best was SideSync, using which you can connect your phone to the PC this will make you get all the notifications on your PC and you can even respond through your PC. You can also copy stuff from your mobile phone.

You can flick your finger over the edge to get the list of your five favorite contacts and one more swipe will bring the list of your five favorite apps.

When the screen is off you can access the side screen by swiping up and down on the side screen, this will bring an information screen where you can get the feeds from you selected apps, like weather, news etc.

Performance

When you pay such a hefty price for your Smartphone, you want a brilliant performance from your device and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus provides just that. Samsung has now dumped the Snapdragon processor in its flagship devices and has now started to use its own 64-bit Exynos processor. It is a 1.5GHz Quad-core with 2.1GHz Quad-core processor, along with 4GB RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is a beast of a phone. The phone shows no lag even when put under a lot of pressure. This is a fantastic device to play all your processor intensive games.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has the same camera as the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and Note 5 and all those were brilliant cameras. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus too has one among the best cameras available.

On the rear, the S6 Edge Plus has a 16 MP sensor with f/1.9 and it has Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to click brilliant photos even in shaky situations and in low light. The Samsung camera app is also very fast; it is almost as good as the iPhone 6. Fast autofocus, just open the camera app and point shooting. The manual mode of the camera for all the photographers is also very nice offering different functionalities to the photographers.

The front camera of the device is a 5 MP sensor with aperture of f/1.9 and it clicks very nice selfies for you to put on different social media accounts.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus has an improved battery over the Samsung Galaxy S6 and it has a 3000 mAh battery. The battery performance though satisfactory it could have been better.

Storage

In its latest range of Galaxy devices, Samsung has done away with the expandable memory option and it stays the same for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus too. The S6 Edge Plus is available in two memory variant – 32 GB and 64 GB.

What I Liked

  • A brilliant display
  • Fast and lag free performance
  • Cameras are all round superstar
  • Fingerprint scanner has improved a lot

What I Disliked

  • No microSD support
  • Fingerprint loving glass bodywork
  • Non-removable battery

Final Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is the most beautiful and futuristic Smartphone available in the market right now. It is a brilliant performer too. The curved screen must be used to its full potential by all the app makers too. Right now it seems like underworked.

The final difference between the S6 Edge and the S6 Edge Plus is the screen size, the 1 GB RAM difference does not become much of a deal changer, though I personally feel that the curved screen look better on a bigger phone.
