Earlier we had informed you that the Dutch smartphone manufacturer had started taking pre-orders for world’s first modular smartphone, Fairphone 2, they have now started shipping the smartphones to their customers in Europe. The Fairphone 2 carries forward the basic idea of Project Ara, but the smartphone is not as modular as the Project Ara is supposed to be. In the Fairphone 2, one will not be able to replace the older part with a more advanced part instead they will be able to easily repair their smartphone themselves by replacing the damaged component with a new component. All the users will need is a screwdriver. It must also be noted that the Fairphone 2 just like its predecessor is made from materials including metals like tin and tantalum, which are sourced from conflict-free mines.
