As we had earlier informed you about the Gionee Marathon M5 LITE, Gionee launched the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus officially in China. The smartphone will go on sale in China starting on the 25th December and the smartphone will carry a price tag of 2,499 Yuan, which approximately translates to Rs 25,500.
The Gionee Marathon M5 Plus carries forward the ‘Marathon’ range of smartphones from Gionee, which as the name suggests comes with large batteries. Gionee had earlier launched the Gionee Marathon M5 and the Gionee Marathon M5 Lite in this series. The main USP of the Marathon M5 Plus is the large 5020 mAh battery that comes with added advantages that we will discuss later in this article and the fingerprint scanner that is integrated in the physical home button on the front. The Marathon M5 Plus is the second smartphone from Gionee, after Elife E8 that offers a fingerprint sensor.
Gionee Marathon M5 Plus Launched in China with 5020mAh Battery & 6-inch Display
The Gionee Marathon M5 Plus at the dimensions of 160.9 x 81.2 x 8.4mm weighs just 208 grams. The smartphone flaunts a large 6 inch AMOLED display having a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel density of 368 ppi, the display features a 2D arc glass. The Plus version of the Marathon M5 is powered by the octa-core MediaTek 6753, clocked at 1.3GHz, this is coupled with Mali-T720 GPU for graphics and 3GB of RAM. The smartphone offers 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card.
In the camera department, the mobile phone features a 13 MP primary camera on the rear and a 5 MP camera on the front for selfies. The device offers dual SIM usage and has connectivity options such as 4G LTE and VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, USB Type-C port and Bluetooth. It runs Gionee’s own Amigo 3.1 UI over the Android v5.1 Lollipop.
The Gionee Marathon M5 Plus is backed up with a 5020 mAh battery, which the company claims will retain 90 percent of its starting capacity after completing 600 charging cycles. The smartphone also features fast charging capability and double charging chips that avoids overheating while charging the smartphone.
There have not been any announcements about the availability of the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus smartphone outside China. It is also worth noting that the Indian version of this smartphone, whenever it does make its way in the country might feature a slightly different spec sheet.
